After the 1993 experiment of the 1st (and unique) Scrabble World Championship in italian language, between 1995 and 1998 the company\u00a0Mattel purchased the brand Scrabble and wanted the italian players to know and appreciate the game, whose italian “clone” arrived in Italy before the original game conquered the market.
\nA “Scrabble project” we could say.
\nFirst the two magazine promotions, Corriere della Sera and Panorama, two long competitions with many prizes.
\nAnd then the 1st unforgettable National Championship in 1997, with the final on TV, during the TV program\u00a0Quelli che il calcio<\/em>.
\nAnd the magazine\u00a0Scrabble News<\/a>.
\nAnd the 2nd National Championship in 1998.
\nThen the full rewrite of the rules and the grounding of the Scrabble Club, that for several years gathered together the best italian players.
\nThe present story of Scrabble in Italy is all in the\u00a0Federazione Italiana Gioco Scrabble<\/a>‘s hands, founded in 2007, that is making a great job both in a technical and in a promotional way.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”PIONEERS” tab_id=”pioneers”][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]\n

Scrabble wasn’t yet very popular in Italy, but a group of “pioneers”, in 1993 organized in Rome the 1st (and unique) “Campionato Mondiale in lingua italiana” [“Scrabble World Championship in italian language”]. The winner was Claudio Borgnino from Naples, against Roberto Mazzaferri from Rome. The challenge has been refereed by Dario Zaccariotto.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”15px”][vc_single_image image=”8782″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]\n
