Rome becomes the capital of Hive

Francesco Salerno is a leading expert on the game Hive (created by John Yianni) and was our team-mate at the Mind Sports Olympiad, where he won numerous medals in the discipline.
He is now coordinating the organisation of the upcoming European convention, to be held in Rome on 5 and 6 September 2026 at the LudoPub “La Civetta”.
This is the perfect opportunity for all enthusiasts and those simply curious about the game.

Hive is an abstract strategy game for two players – a younger sibling of chess – with a growing international community. It is played without a board, using hexagonal tiles, with the aim of surrounding your opponent’s queen bee! Its depth makes it perfect both for those new to the world of strategy games and for fans of mind sports.

On 5 and 6 September, enthusiasts from all over the world will gather in Rome for the European Hive Convention!
The programme includes a full-day tournament on Saturday, followed by seminars, workshops and free play on Sunday morning.
Whether you’re simply curious or an experienced player, the event is open to all levels. It’ll be the perfect opportunity to learn the basics from scratch, refine your strategies alongside the experts, or simply make friends with other enthusiasts.
